Statement

In a realm of reality, remembrance, and imagination, my mind is explored through an instant application of mark, line, and color using pastels, ink, and graphite. These create works that archive the experiences to be interpreted by the viewer who becomes engaged in this passive yet persistent searching for connection through similar lived experiences; on the street watching a dog walk by, lounging into a familiar space unviewed by the world, the swipe of a hand, being the unassuming person who becomes an object through a window. My work takes these unnoticeable things and explores their true beauty through the emotive narrative we naturally express with our hands, feet, and form, giving to those who are willing to look.  It is in my observation that these seemingly passed-by events, a blur in our memory of the day, are “living blurs”, unnoticed yet just as remarkable. My work, while exploring my own definitions, experiences, observations, and memories, falls into the visualisation of what remains from the active and past presence of the human experience. This obsession stems from my personal reflection on proving that I and everyone around me, before and after me, have existed, and what will be made of my existence as an artist.
